
Big Inning Dooms Softball At Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. - - The Ball State softball team fell victim to the "big inning" as it opened play in the Flames Classic with a 13-0 (5) setback to host Liberty Thursday night at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.

After a scoreless inning-and-a-half, the Flames (12-9) posted 11 runs in the bottom of the second inning to help secure their 11th consecutive win of the season.

The Cardinals (9-9), on the other hand, were never able to find a rhythm on offense with just three hits. Two of those came off the bat of senior shortstop Amaia Daniel, including a two-out double in the top of the fifth.

- Redshirt freshman infielder McKenna Mulholland tallied Ball State's other hit with a single down the left field line in the second.
- Ball State's final four games of the Flames Classic are currently scheduled to be neutral site contests, with the Cardinals currently a perfect 7-0 in neutral site games.
