Men’s Tennis Drops 4-3 Road Match at Toledo
March 31, 2023 | Men's Tennis
TOLEDO, Ohio - The Ball State men's tennis team (10-8, 2-4 MAC) dropped another close 4-3 decision to Toledo (12-5, 4-2 MAC) this time on the road at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
The Cardinals would fall behind early in the match after dropping the doubles point to the Rockets. Vince Orlando and Eli Herran paired up at the No. 2 doubles spot and would be the lone twosome to win for BSU. Orlando and Herran took down Toledo's Marko Galic and Adam Kovac, 6-2.
In singles, the Rockets took a 3-0 edge over the Cardinals after winning on courts two and three, respectively. Broc Fletcher and Herran gave Ball State some hope for a comeback, making the score 3-2 with singles victories on courts No. 6 and No. 4.
But unfortunately, Nathaniel Webster suffered a three-set heartbreaker on the top court, shattering the hopes for a come-from-behind win for Ball State.
Sajin Smith would end the match on a high note for BSU after beating Matias Olivero, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 10-6 at position No. 5.
The Ball State men's tennis team will return to the court Friday, April 7 at Western Michigan. First serve is at 1 pm ET at the Sorensen Courts/West Hills Athletic Club.
