
Ball State Fall to Charlotte in Series Finale

Ball State fell to 1-3 overall, while Charlotte improved to 3-1 on the season.
Peltier and Hunter Dobbins drew back-to-back walks with one out to start the rally in the top of the first for BSU. Casey Turturici was hit by a pitch to load the bases for the Cardinals. Zach Lane notched a two-out double to left center to score Peltier and Dobbins. Decker Scheffler came up with an infield single to the shortstop and drove in Turturici.
After a scoreless bottom of the first inning, Peltier pelted a solo home run to deep left field and extended the BSU lead to 4-0 after the top of the second.

The 49ers scored 12 runs, on five hits in the bottom of the third to take a 12-4 lead. Charlotte adds two runs in the bottom of the fourth to extend its lead to 14-4. CLT added five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 19-4 lead.
Flood blasted a solo home run to left center to make the score 19-5.

Lane led the Cardinals with two RBIs and a 1-for-2 day at the plate. Peltier led BSU with two runs scored and had a 1-for-2 performance.
Ty Weatherly got the start on the mound for Ball State and picked up the loss. He went two innings and surrendered six earned, runs on five walks, three hits, with two strikeouts. Jalen Martinez went 1/3 of an inning in relief and gave up three earned runs on two walks. Blake Bevis added 1 2/3 innings in relief. He surrendered five earned runs, on four hits, and four walks. Graham Kelham gave up five runs, three earned, walked five, and struck out one. Logan Schulfer went an inning with three strikeouts and two walks.
Miles Langhorne started for the 49ers and went 2/3 of an inning and surrendered three earned runs, on two hits, two walks, and had one strikeout. Clark Dearman earned the win in 2 1/3 innings of relief with one earned run, on one hit, and he notched one strikeout. Cameron Hanson went three innings in relief with three strikeouts. Brevan Yarbro closed out the game with one inning of relief and surrendered an earned run with one strikeout.
The Cardinals return to the road for the Swig & Swine tournament in Charleston, South Carolina. Ball State opens the tournament against Merrimack on Friday, Feb. 24. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
