Jihad Named MAC Co-Player of the Week

Basheer Jihad has been named the Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week, the MAC office announced Monday.
The junior forward scored a career-high 25 points, including 21 in the first half, on Tuesday night at Little Rock while tallying four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Jihad followed that up with 19 points and 11 rebounds on Saturday to lead the Cardinals to a 67-58 win over Bellarmine. The double-double was his second of the season.
The Detroit, Mich., native leads Ball State in scoring (17.5 points per game), rebounding (6.8 per game) and field goal percentage (51.5) among Cardinals taking an average of at least four shots per game. Jihad shares the honor with Ohio's sophomore guard Elmore James.
This is Ball State's first weekly recognition of the season and Jihad's initial MAC Player of the Week honor.
Jihad and the Cardinals sport a 6-2 record going into Wednesday's game at Detroit Mercy.
