Cardinals to play 54 holes at Delaware Country Club over the weekend
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's golf team is set to tee off the 2022-23 season by hosting the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, Sept. 2-3. The 54-hole tournament is slated to take place at the par-70, 6,438-yard Delaware Country Club.
"We are really excited to get the college golf season started and host at Delaware Country Club," head coach Mike Fleck said. "Our guys really went to work over the summer and many of them competed at a high level which is exactly what we needed.
"Our goal this week is simple, we want to win. Our top five guys are the players that had the most success this summer, so I'm anxious to see them continue to compete at a high level this weekend."
Ball State's five-man lineup consists of Kash Bellar, Griffin Hare, Ali Khan, Joey Ranieri and Joey Wiseman. Also competing as individuals will be Evan Bone, Colin Nasser, Carson Orr, Carter Smith and Drew Todd.
The Cardinals are joined in the 15-team field by Butler, Central Michigan, Cleveland State, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, IUPUI, Loyola, Marshall, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne and Wright State.
Ball State is paired with Dayton, Ohio and Wright State for the opening two rounds Friday with a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m. ET. Saturday's final round will consist of tee times beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The Cardinals have hosted this tournament on and off since the 1974-75 season. It was previously known as the Ball State Invitational. The event was then renamed in Yestingsmeier's honor beginning with the 2001-02 season.
