Ball State Adds Grad Transfer Thomas Allen
May 12, 2022 | Men's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. – Head Coach Michael Lewis and the Ball State men's basketball program added Thomas Allen as part of the 2022 recruitment class on Thursday. Allen is a graduate transfer from NC State and will be eligible immediately.
Allen is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. He will provide the Cardinals with leadership and experience as a graduate transfer. He posted a career-high 18 points in 2018-19 on two separate occasions, once against Creighton and the other against Purdue, both while at Nebraska.
He spent the last two seasons with the Wolfpack. During the 2020-21 season, he averaged 7.4 points per game before his season was cut short to an injury. He appeared in 17 games, including 15 starts. Allen shot 36.4 percent from the field and 37.9 percent from 3-point range. He added 43 rebounds, 28 assists, 22 steals, and two blocks.

Allen started his NCAA career at Nebraska. While with the Huskers, he was the only freshman to contribute regularly during the 2017-18 campaign. During his time in Lincoln, he earned the Sam Foltz Hero 27 Leadership Award, and he earned a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team, both in 2019. In his final season with Nebraska, Allen averaged 8.7 points per game. He shot 43.6 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from behind the arc as well as 86.2 percent from the free-throw line. He brought down 81 rebounds, dished out 59 assists, notched 38 steals, and blocked six shots.
From Ball State Head Coach Michael Lewis
"I was able to coach him for two years at Nebraska. I'm very familiar with not only his game, but the type of person he is. He's going to bring a ton of value to our team from an experience and leadership standpoint. He's played at a high level. He's going to bring a lot of those attributes to this program as we build into a championship program."
