April 08, 2022 | Women's Tennis
PERRYSBURG, Ohio - The Ball State women's team stays on the winning track with a 4-3 victory over Bowling Green Friday afternoon at the Perrysburg Tennis Center.
With the win, the Cardinals improved to 14-3 (5-1 MAC) while Bowling Green drops to 4-12 (1-4 MAC) after the loss.
All season long Ball State has dominated doubles play and today's match was no different.
The Cardinals took the early 1-0 edge over the Falcons after posting wins on courts two and three. Emma Peeler paired up with Mariya Polishchuk at the No. 3 slot to get BSU on the winning track after earning a 6-1 take down against BGSU's Laura Maia Silveira and Maru Poppe.
The Falcons then evened the playing field by taking court one from the Cardinals. Livia Lukacs and Jessica Braun answered by claiming the doubles point after their 6-4 defeat against Annika Vetter and Ioanna Tsadari at the No. 2 position.
Although the score may not have indicated how quickly the match was won, Ball State quickly breezed through the early part of singles winning on courts four, three, and six.
Amy Kaplan did not give up a game in either of her sets winning the match over Poppe, 6-0, 6-0 on court No. 4. Polishchuk pushed the Cardinals lead to 3-0 over the Falcons after posting a 6-1, 6-1 victory versus BGSU's No. 3 player Annika Vetter.
Hannah Davies then moved quickly on court three to claim match point for Ball State. Davies captured a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Vetter at No. 3 singles.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference action on Sunday against rival Miami. The match time and place will be announced on Sunday morning. The match will be played outdoors at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting.
