Women’s Tennis Downs Northern Illinois 6-1 in MACtion Sunday

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team (13-3, 4-1 MAC) returned to its home courts on Sunday and scored a 6-1 win over Northern Illinois (13-10, 0-5 MAC) at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
In doubles, the Cardinals won the team point with victories on the top two courts. Livia Lukacs and Jessica Braun scored a 6-1 win at the No. 2 slot over Diana Lukayanova and Erika Dimitriev while Amy Kaplan and Hannah Davies clinched the point after taking down Christy Robinson and Fernanda Naves on the top court, 6-2.
Emma Peeler got the Cardinals going at No. 1 singles after posting a 6-1,6-1 defeat over Erika Dimitriev. Lukacs then moved Ball State's score to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 defeat against Julia Dmitrieva at the No. 6 slot to make the score 3-0.
After that, Hannah Davies clinched match point for Ball State after earning a 6-3, 6-4 take down over NIU's Christy Robinson on court No. 3.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference action on Friday, April 8 at Bowling Green. First serve is at 1 pm Eat at the Perrysburg Tennis Center.
