MUNCIE, Ind. - Sophomore defender Nadia Briddell of the Ball State field hockey team competed for the Puerto Rican National Team last week where she helped her team to a second-place finish at the CAC Qualifier.
Briddell had tried out for the team in 2020 as a junior in high school but because of the COVID-19 global pandemic the team couldn't compete until this year.
"I've been playing since I was four and playing international field hockey has always been a dream of mine," Briddell said. "I'm super excited that we qualified and are able to keep playing and hopefully go further."
Last week Briddell and the Puerto Rican National Team recently competed against Bermuda, Guyana and Jamaica. Briddell's squad earned a second-place finish and will now advance to the Central American and Caribbean Game in June of 2023 which will be held in San Salvador, El Salvador. This is the first time the Puerto Rican national team has qualified for the Central American and Caribbean games since 2010.
The winning teams from the Central American and Caribbean games qualify next year will then compete at the PAN American Games in October 2023 in Santiago, Chile.
