Freshman earned top-five finish at Dorado Beach Collegiate

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ball State men's golfer Kash Bellar was selected as the Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week, the league office announced. It is Bellar's first league honor of his career.

He is the second Cardinal to be honored by the conference this season, joining Joey Ranieri on Sept. 9.

Bellar earned a top-five finish while leading Ball State to third at the Dorado Beach Collegiate. It marked his second top-five finish of the 2021-22 campaign.

The Peru. Ind. native racked up 14 birdies on the week, in addition to two eagles, en route to finishing at 7-under (69-73-67--209).

Bellar's 3-under 69 in the first round helped guide the Cardinals to a program-record low round of 14-under (274). He was the only golfer in the field to finish even par or better on par 3s, 1-over or better on par 4s and 8-under or better on par 5s.

Ball State returns to the course March 14-15 for the GCU Invitational, hosted by Grand Canyon, in Phoenix, Ariz.
