Bellar leads Ball State on first day of GCU Invitational

Freshman sits at 1-under through 33 holes played Monday
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Ball State men's golfer Kash Bellar sits at 1-under through 33 holes and is tied for 24th overall to lead the Cardinals on the first day of the GCU Invitational Monday.
The tournament nearly made it through two full rounds but had to suspend play due to darkness with only a few holes remaining in the second circuit of the par-71 GCU Golf Course.
Bellar fired a 2-under 69 that featured six birdies split evenly between the front and back nine on his first card. He is a 1-over on his second round, which features three remaining holes.
Joey Ranieri and Joey Wiseman are part of a 12-player logjam at 2-over. The duo has combined for 13 birdies thus far.
Ali Khan and Colin Nasser sit a 6-over and 10-over, respectively, with a few holes remaining in each of their second rounds.
The Cardinals are tied for 12th in the 23-team field at 9-over and are just two strokes off the top 10.
The rest of the second round and entire third round is slated to be completed Tuesday, beginning at 10:15 a.m. ET.
