Men’s Tennis Wins On The Road In MACtion at Northern Illinois, 5-2

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Ball State men's tennis team closed out its opening Mid-American Conference weekend with a 5-2 victory on the road at Northern Illinois Sunday afternoon at the Boylan Tennis Center.
The Cardinals took the 1-0 edge over the Huskies after earning doubles wins on courts one and three.
Danilo Kovacevic and Chris Adams started off the day strong with a 6-3 take down versus NIU's top doubles tandem of Mikko Malinen and Michael Vollbach.
NIU made the doubles competition knotted a one apiece with a win at the No. 2 spot.
The point came down to BSU's No. 3 twosome of Vince Orland and Parrish Simmons as the duo clinched the doubles point by winning a 7-5 match versus NIU's No. 3 doubles team of Luke Van Donslear and Armin Koschtojan.
In singles action, NIU earned its first point of the match to even the score after taking court two from the BSU.
After that, Kovacevic and Orlando earned straight set decisions on courts one and six, respectively to give the Cardinals a 3-1 edge over the Huskies.
Northern Illinois went on to take the next court from Ball State at the No. 4 position before Eli Herran claimed match point for Ball State after beating Armin Koschtojan at the No. 5 slot in a three-set thriller, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
Nathaniel Webster rounded out the singles victories for the Cardinals today on court three.
