Cardinals Welcome Rockets for #MuncieOut on Friday

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State Cardinals men's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Worthen Arena for a nationally televised matchup with Toledo on Friday at 9 p.m. Friday's contest is the annual #MuncieOut game and is sponsored by McGuff Roofing.

Ball State students be sure to arrive early for a free energy drink prior to Friday's game. Also, one student will have a chance to shoot a half-court shot for $1,000 courtesy of McGuff Roofing. Students must register at the top of the student section during pregame. A reminder that energy drinks and the half-court shot opportunity is only open to Ball State students.
Last time out, Ball State was defeated by Ohio 87-63. Jalen Windham produced a career-high 17 points coming off the bench on 6-of-9 shooting from the field and 5-of-7 from 3-point range. Payton Sparks picked up his fifth double-double with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Jaylin Sellers ripped a team-high three steals. Demarius Jacobs, Basheer Jihad, Sparks and Sellers all tied for a team-best two assists. Miryne Thomas and Mickey Pearson Jr. each produced a block for the Cardinals.
Sparks has been a force for the Cardinals and leads the team with 12.6 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game. Tyler Cochran is second on the team with 12.0 points a contest and second in rebounding with 5.4 boards a game. Luke Bumbalough is averaging 11.2 points per game, while Thomas is averaging 10.8 points per contest. Thomas leads the squad with 10 blocks and is the only Cardinal in double figures. Cochran continues to be a menace on the defensive end with a team-best 38 steals. Bumbalough and Jacobs have been the key facilitators with 65 and 52 assists, respectively.
Toledo leads the series 53-48 against Ball State. The Rockets have won the last three meetings, including an 83-70 victory in the last matchup earlier this season in Toledo. The Cardinals are 30-17 at home against the Rockets.
UT is led by Ryan Rollins with 20.0 points per game, which leads the MAC. Rollins also has a team-high 43 steals on defense. JT Shumate (15.4), Setric Millner Jr. (13.7), and RayJ Dennis (12.0) close out the double-digit scorers for Toledo. Shumate has been the biggest contributor for the team with 6.3 rebounds per game, a shooting percentage of 56.0 percent from the field, a shooting percentage of 48.4 percent from 3-point range, and a team-high 25 blocks. Dennis has dished out a team-best 82 assists.
