Three in top 10, Cardinals lead field at Dorado Beach Collegiate

Khan, Nasser, Ranieri in the hunt after 36 holes
DORADO, Puerto Rico – The Ball State men's golf trio of Ali Khan, Colin Nasser and Joey Ranieri sit inside the top 10 after the second of the Dorado Beach Collegiate Monday. As a team, the Cardinals lead the field at 19-under (557) at the par-72 Dorado Beach Resort and Club Sugarcane Course.
Khan sits in fourth at 7-under (68-69--137), while Ranieri is just two shots back at 5-under (69-70--139). Nasser is tied for ninth at 4-under (69-71--140).
For the second consecutive round, Khan had just one bogey in the round while racking up four birdies and 13 pars. The redshirt freshman birdied three of his first six holes and closed his second circuit with a birdie.
Ranieri also produced a near-clean card with three birdies, 14 pars and just one bogey.
Despite bogeying two of his first six holes, Nasser rebounded by going 3-under across the final 12 holes, including an eagle on the par-5 12th hole.
Kash Bellar is tied for 21st at 2-under (69-73--142) behind a four-birdie round Monday.
Joey Wiseman (72-71--143) and Griffin Hare (68-76--144) are tied for 25th and 33rd at 1-under and even-par, respectively. The duo each produced an eagle on the front-nine. Wiseman eagled the par-5 sixth hole, while Hare had an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole.
Ball State combined for 18 birdies and three eagles to highlight the round and lead by one stroke over host UNCG (558). Wofford (562), Drexel (566) and Virginia Tech (566) round out the top five heading into the final round.
The Cardinals are paired with UNCG and Wofford for the last round Tuesday, beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
