CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Ball State men's tennis team (4-3) lost a competitive 5-2 match Friday afternoon at Xavier (5-2) at Eastern Hills.
The Cardinals started the doubles competition off strong winning first on court No. 1 after the duo of Danilo Kovacevic and Chris Adams tallied a 6-1 defeat over Xavier's Ryan Cahill and Diego Nava.
Although, the scores were close for Ball State on courts two and three the Musketeers managed to take wins at both positions to claim the doubles point over BSU.
Ball State knotted the match 1-1 after Thibault de Negril won in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 versus Cahill at the No. 2 slot. Cincinnati answered back quickly and took back a one-point advantage (2-1) with the Musketeer's posting a win on court No. 1.
After that, Eli Herran tied the score for the second time with his 6-4, 6-2 take down against Pascal Mosberger at position No. 5.
With three courts remaining, both Nathaniel Webster and Vince Orlando were each in three set thrillers on their respective courts. Unfortunately, the Cardinals were unable to win the remaining matches today.
