Women’s Tennis Takes Down Oakland

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team (3-1) earned a 6-1 decision over Oakland (0-2) Saturday afternoon at the Northwest YMCA.
The Cardinals took control early in the match after taking the doubles point from the Grizzlies earning victories on all three courts.
First off, the court was the No. 3 duo of Amy Kaplan and Hannah Davies. The twosome did not give up a game winning the match 6-0 over Oakland's Yasmin Glazbrook and Emma Hultqvist. Clinching the first point of today's match was the Ball State No. 2 doubles tandem of Jessica Braun and Livia Lukacs after beating Tegan Heaton and Jillian Milan, 6-2.
Elena Malykh opened singles action with a dominate 6-0, 6-0 victory on court No. 5. Amy Kaplan then increased the Cardinals lead to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 3 position.
Emma Peeler, who was down in the first set to Nirva Patel on the top court earned match point for Ball State after coming back to take set one 6-4 and the second frame of play 6-2.
With Ball State already winning the match there were still three courts remaining. Hannah Davies took her match in straight sets while her teammate Ella Hazlebaker captured a two-set tie breaker against Hultqvist, 4-6, 6-2, 10-3.
The Ball State women's tennis team head to Western Kentucky on Saturday, Feb. 19 for a 2 pm ET first serve.
