Men’s Tennis Wins 4-3 Thriller At Dayton
February 12, 2022 | Men's Tennis
DAYTON, Ohio - The Ball State men's tennis team (3-2) earned a come-from-behind 4-3 victory at Dayton (5-4) Saturday afternoon, snapping the Flyers' 17-match home winning streak.
The Cardinals prevailed in their final three matches on the court to fight their way back after finding themselves trailing the Flyers 3-1.
Although, Ball State took the doubles point from Dayton after winning on courts one and two, Dayton came back with a vengeance at the start of singles play.
All the three remaining courts were in their third sets. Danilo Kovacevic's win over Ronit Hiryur on court two (6-7, 6-2, 6-2) stopped the Flyers from winning their four point and would make the overall score 3-2.
After that, Vince Orlando, who also dropped his first frame of action 6-7, came back to knot the match for Ball State after taking sets two and three by a score of 6-4, 6-2, respectively.
It comes to no surprise that the match would fall in the hands of graduate senior Chris Adams. Over the years, Adams has been clutch in these situations, and today was no different. Adams would take down Will Harper at the No. 4 position (6-4, 3-6, 7-6) to win the fourth and final point for the Cardinals.
The Ball State men's tennis team will play at Butler Wednesday for a 12 p.m. ET first serve in the Butler Bubble. The match against the Bulldogs was originally scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 13, but was postponed.
