Chaye Named MAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - After setting three program records at last week's Miami Invitational, Ball State senior freestyle specialist Owen Chaye has been named the Mid-American Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week.
Chaye wasted little time accomplishing his first program record at the Nixon Aquatic Center, doing so in Thursday's 50 freestyle prelims at 20.04. He was even better in Thursday's finals, however, opening the 200 freestyle relay with the first sub-20 second 50 free in program history at 19.91.
The effort also helped the relay finish with a program record mark of 1:20.21. On the final day of competition last Saturday, Chaye added his third program record by clocking in at 44.36 in the prelims of the 100 freestyle.
Chaye, and the rest of the Ball State swimming & diving program, return to action Jan. 14 in a tri-meet at Indiana State with Southern Illinois.
