Women's S&D Third After Two Days At Miami Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio - - Junior Marcella Ribeiro's second-place swim in the 200 freestyle lead a strong Ball State effort on the second day of the Miami Invitational Friday evening.

The program record holder in the 200 freestyle, Ribeiro finished the event in 1:50.00. She was followed closely by freshman Payton Kelly whose mark of 1:51.71 tied as the ninth-best individual effort on Ball State's Top 10 list.

Kelly also swam anchor for the fourth-place 200 medley relay to open the evening's finals session, with the quartet clocking in at 1:42.94 for the 10th-best mark in program history. She was joined on the squad by sophomore Hannah Jones and seniors Laura Wright and Phoebe Rensink.

Ribeiro and Kelly would combine for an even better result in the day's final event, bookending the second-place 800 freestyle relay which turned in the second-best mark in the BSU record book at 7:26.15. They were joined on the relay by freshman Kiran Stauffer and senior Apsara Sakbun.

After two days at the Nixon Aquatic Center, the Cardinals stand in third among the nine-team field with 464.5 points. Action in the meet concludes Saturday, with prelims at 9 a.m. and finals at 4 p.m.
