Webster & Fletcher Advance to Finals of Respective Singles Flights at BSU Invite

MUNCIE, Ind. - It was a chilly fall day at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center but that didn't stop the Ball State men's tennis teams continued success at its 38th annual fall invitational.Â

Sophomore Nathaniel Webster earned two straight set victories in the main draw of singles after taking down IUPUI's Tom Ciszewski, 6-3, 6-1. Webster then faced his fellow teammate Eli Herran in the semifinal round winning the match by a 6-2, 6-4 decision. Webster competes for the champion Sunday against Butler's Tom Brennan.Â

In Flight 2 singles, true freshman Broc Fletcher took an impressive match over Marquette's Ian Brady in the quarterfinals after dropping the first set 2-6. Fletcher fought back to take the second frame by a score of 7-5 and then went on to win the tiebreaker 11-9. Fletcher moved to the final round with his semifinal victory versus Butler's Zach Trimpe, 6-4, 2-6, 11-9.Â

Vince Orlando will also complete for in the final match of the consolation Flight 1 bracket on Sunday against Marquette's Blake Roegner.Â

The Ball State men's tennis team wraps up its three-day invitational on Sunday as the four teams including the Cardinals will play their championship rounds in both singles and doubles beginning at 10:30 a.m. ET.
