Men’s Tennis Shines on Opening Day of BSU Fall Invite

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team shined on the court today at its 38th annual fall invitational which was held at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
Today's competition saw five Cardinals advance to the quarterfinal rounds in Flight A and B singles. The duo of Danilo Kovacevic and Parrish Simmons along with the twosome of Nathaniel Webster and Jacks Lancaster each will compete for the championship of their respective double's flights.
In Flight A singles, Danilo Kovacevic earned a comeback victory over Marquette's Thomas Nelson after dropping a close first set 6-7 (9). Kovacevic fought back to take sets two and three from Nelson by a score of 6-3, 10-3. Also, in Flight A, Eli Herran took down Marquette's Blake Roegner in straight sets while Nathaniel Webster earned a two set tie breaking win versus Butler's Rahulniket Konakanchi.
In Flight B singles, the Ball State freshmen led the way as Lancaster and Broc Fletcher managed straight set victories over their respective opponents.
After two rounds of doubles, Kovacevic and Simmons will be competing in the title match of the Flight A Doubles bracket. The duo knocked off Marquette's Rami Scheetz and Pablo Dale, 7-5 in the first round and then Tom Ciszewski and Kamil Kozerski in the semifinal round 7-6 (5). Webster and Lancaster will also compete in the winner's bracket for the Flight B doubles title against Marquette's Nelson and Ian Brady.
The Ball State Fall Invite will continue play Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. ET at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
