October 11, 2022 | Women's Golf
PORT CLINTON, Ohio – Sarah Gallagher led the Ball State women's golf team in the final round of the Rocket Classic at the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, Ohio, as she tied for 11th. The Cardinals finished in eighth place.
The par-72, 6,118-yard course proved to be a difficult one as no one finished the tournament with a score under par and only two individuals managed to shoot under par in one round. Rutgers won the tournament with a team score of 910 (+46) as three golfers claimed the top-3 spots for the Scarlet Knights.
"We faced another challenging layout this week at Catawba Island Club," said Head Coach Cameron Andry. "When you play a golf course like this it reveals the weaknesses of your game, so we have a good idea of where to focus our attention moving forward."
Gallagher ended the tournament with her lowest round as she shot a 75 (+3) with three birdies. She collected four birdies for the tournament and posted a mark of 232 (+16) as she tied for 11th. Gallagher has recorded a top-25 finish in three straight tournaments.
"It was great to see Sarah with another solid finish. I love the way she competes day in and day out," said Coach Andry.
Jasmine Driscoll moved up two spots in the leaderboard with a final-round score of 80 (+8) with three birdies. She notched a three-round tally of 244 (+28) and came in 31st as she tallied five birdies for the three rounds.
