Women's S&D at Bellarmine Friday; Hosts Buffalo Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State women's swimming & diving team will look to build upon its strong showing last weekend in Ann Arbor when it travels to Bellarmine Friday and hosts Buffalo Saturday for Senior Day.
Starting it off, the Cardinals visit Bellarmine where it will be joined by BSU's men's swimmers for a noon dual at the Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center in Louisville.
EVENT LINEUP FRIDAY AT BELLARMINE:
400 Medley Relay – 1000 Free – 200 Free – 100 Back – 100 Breast – 200 Fly – 50 Free – 100 Free – 200 Back – 200 Breast – 500 Free – 100 Fly – 400 IM – 200 Free Relay
It will then be a quick turnaround for the women, with both the swimmers and divers in action starting at 11 a.m. for a Senior Day showdown with Buffalo.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Ball State women's squad is coming off a strong showing from last Saturday versus Eastern Michigan where they won seven events in a narrow 167-133 setback to Eastern Michigan. While the Cardinals were able to win four of the five individual freestyle events and sweep the breaststroke swims, the Eagles secured the victory late in the meet with wins in the final four events.
Sophomore Marcella Ribeiro continued to swim strong in the distance freestyle, starting with a winning time of 10:18.75 in the 1000. She would go on to lead a strong Ball State effort in the 500 freestyle later in the meet, clocking in with a winning time of 5:04.26. In addition to winning the two longest individual freestyle events, the Cardinals secured the top spot in the two shortest with junior Apsara Sakbun winning the 50 in 23.88 and freshman Gracey Payne taking top billing in the 100 in 52.62.
Ball State opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay, as freshman Hannah Jones, senior Alex Bader, junior Shelby Crist and Sakbun combined for a time of 1:45.04. Bader would go on to win the 100 breaststroke later in the meet with a time of 1:04.80, while Ball State's final event victory came from senior Laura Wright in the 200 breaststroke at 2:20.19.
IN THE MAC RANKINGS - WOMEN:
In the latest USA Swimming Mid-American Conference Top Times report, the Ball State women's squad has 11 student-athletes ranked in scoring position in their respective events through the first four meets of the season.

CRUSING TO A PROGRAM RECORD:
Ball State's swimmers notched their first program record of the season on the final day of the IUPUI House of Champions (Nov. 20) … The quartet of freshman Hannah Jones, freshman Gracey Payne, senior Alexa McDonald, and junior Apsara Sakbun combined for a time of 3:23.46 to break the program record in the 400 freestyle relay to cap an amazing three days of action for the women's swimming & diving program.
NCAA ZONE DIVING CUTS:
Freshman Ashleigh Provan is making an immediate impact on the diving boards for the Cardinals, having achieved NCAA Zone Diving Championship cuts on both the 1M and 3M boards … In Thursday's diving-only dual at IUPUI, Provan earned her second NCAA Zone Diving qualifying mark of the season, taking top honors on the 3M board with a career-best score of 293.76 … Earlier in the season, Provan turned in a 1M NCAA Zone Diving qualifying mark of 276.00 in her Lewellen Aquatic Center debut versus Ohio (Oct. 30).
