Field Hockey Comes Up Short In Defensive Battle Against IU

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team came up short against in-state rive Indiana on Sunday afternoon at the Briner Sports Complex. In fact, today's game came down to one goal, which unfortunately went to the Hoosiers.

With the loss, Ball State falls to 3-7 overall, while Indiana improves to 6-4.

After a scoreless half, the Hoosiers scored at the 37:33 mark in the third quarter to take the 1-0 edge over Ball State. The Cardinals then held Indiana scoreless for the remainder of the contest.

The Cardinals regained control late in the game but unfortunately struggled to get a shot off.

Ball State stopped 17 of the Indiana's 18 shots today with true freshman goalie Ally Butler leading the way with nine saves. Classmate Kerrianne McClay also registered a defensive save against the Hoosiers.

The Ball State field hockey team returns to Mid-American Conference action when it travels to Miami on Friday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. ET.
