Cards Sweep Miami, Finish Season At 38-18

MUNCIE - Ball State swept a doubleheader over Miami to close its regular season with a 38-18 overall record, 29-11 in conference play and 48th in the NCAA RPI ranking.
The Cardinals won 5-2 in Sunday's opener behind a 3-hit gem from Lukas Jaksich. The final game of the season with a 4-0 win with freshman Trennor O'Donnell pitching into the 9th inning in his best college performance.Â
GAME 1 - Ball State 5, Miami 2 (BOX SCORE)
Jaksich held Miami in check and finished his career with a complete game, 6-strikeout performance in a BSU win. Adam Tellier went 2-for-2 and Trenton Quartermaine walked twice and scored two runs. There were only 10 hits in the game (3 XBH) as Jaksich was almost matched by Miami's Jonathan Brand, who also threw a complete game.Â
It was a 2-2 game late when the Cards struck for three runs in the bottom of the 6th to win the game.Â
GAME 2 - Ball State 4, Miami 0 (BOX SCORE)
O'Donnell turned in his best collegiate effort, working 8.1 innings of shutout ball in a 4-0 win. The righty Sunday starter struck out 10 and scattered six hits before Tyler Schweitzer came in for the last two outs.Â
It was a 1-0 game for much of the day until BSU struck in the 7th inning. Miami committed an error in the infield that opened the door for a 3-run bottom of the 7th. Adam Tellier went 3-for-3 with a walk and Noah Navarro had two hits in his final college game.Â
