The Ball State baseball team finishes the 2021 season at home vs. Miami still alive for a league championship. The Cardinals at 25-11 in league play are two games back with four games to play.
Here's the scenario where Ball State wins the championship: Ball State must be at least two games better than Central Michigan. If both teams finish tied, each team's record against the No. 3 team is the tiebreaker. Ball State holds the tiebreaker if Toledo or Western Michigan are the No. 3. Central Michigan holds it if Kent State is the No. 3.
In short, everyone in Muncie is rooting for Toledo to win at home this weekend. Toledo is the MAC's best hitting team, while CMU is the best pitching team.
At Ball Diamond, the Cards still need to take care of business against a .500 Miami team with pitching that leads the conference in strikeouts and average against. Runs will be at a premium all weekend with quality arms on both sides.
