Â
The Ball State soccer team is set for its last scheduled road game Thursday at Northern Illinois.
Â
The Cardinals enter the final week of the regular season controlling their own destiny for the MAC West Division title and a spot in the league championship game.
Â
To accomplish that, BSU (4-2-1) needs a sweep of its last two matches -- Thursday at NIU and at home Sunday against Eastern Michigan. The Cardinals defeated both opponents earlier in this shortened, 10-game season. Now they'll look to do it again.
Â
The quest starts with the trip to DeKalb, Illinois, to face an NIU team (1-7-0) playing its final home game. The Huskies are coming off a 4-1 loss at division leader Eastern Michigan.
Â
Ball State won this season's first meeting 2-0 in Muncie back on March 18. Melissa Diceman scored both goals for the Cardinals, one in each half, on a cold, wet and windy afternoon against the Huskies at the Briner Sports Complex.
Â
BSU is looking to rebound after having its four-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 2-0 loss Sunday at Western Michigan. That defeat knocked the Cardinals from the top of the division, but they could reclaim that spot with two wins this week.
