Twelve Soccer Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-MAC Team Honors

Twelve Ball State soccer student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-MAC Team, the Mid-American Conference office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Delaney Ahearn, Delaney Caldwell, Addie Chester, Audrey Goodyear, Annika Klauss, Tori Monaco, LG Moncrief, Kate Pallante, Emily Roper, Kaelyn Valleau, Kira Verburg, and Lexi Watkins are the Cardinals who earned the distinction.
In order to qualify, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA, have participated in at least half of the team contests, and be in at least their second year of residence at the school. First-year students and transfers in their first season are not eligible for the award.
Ahearn is a redshirt junior general studies major who started in all 20 games at defender and played a team-high 1,806 minutes.
Caldwell is a senior studying elementary education who also started in all 20 games and scored four goals on the year. The forward finished her collegiate career with the fourth-most assists (15), fifth-most points (55) and seventh-most goals (20) in program history.
Chester is a senior accounting major who tallied 11 goals and five assists for 27 points on the season on her way to MAC Forward of the Year, First Team All-MAC and Second Team All-Midwest Region honors. The Muncie, Ind., native finished fifth in the Ball State record book in goals (21), assists (13) and points (55) in only two seasons with the Cardinals.
Goodyear studies psychological science and started in 11 of her 13 matches played during her junior season at defender.
Klauss is a redshirt sophomore biology major who played in 19 games and scored a goal in the Oct. 12 win over Akron.
Monaco tallied a goal and five assists while starting in 19 of 20 contests. The senior is a media major at Ball State.
Moncrief is a sophomore exercise science major who started in 10 of 14 matches played and tallied an assist in the Oct. 9 win at Eastern Michigan.
Pallante collected 58 saves and posted a 0.96 goals against average in her sophomore season. The sport administration major made the game-winning save in a penalty kick shootout against Kent State at the conference tournament.
Roper is a senior finance major who had three goals and three saves on the year while playing every game. She finished her collegiate career with 14 goals and seven assists for 35 points.
Valleau studies forensic science and played in 17 games at forward during her junior season. She scored a goal in the win over Akron.
Verburg is a senior biology major who started in 10 of 16 games played for the Cardinals in her final collegiate season and logged 840 total minutes.
Watkins is a redshirt freshman pre nursing major who started all 20 games as a midfielder, scored the game-winning goal in the MAC opener at UMass on Sept. 14, and had two assists for the year.
