
WBB’s Brown & Freeman Earn All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - For the second-straight year, Ball State women's basketball senior forward Oshlynn Brown and sophomore guard Sydney Freeman have received post-season All-Mid-American Conference accolades as announced Tuesday (March 9) by the league office. Brown was named First Team All-MAC for the second time in her career, while Freeman earned All-MAC Honorable Mention.
Brown has been honored by the league in each of her four years with the Cardinals, starting with being named the MAC's Sixth Player of the Year following her freshman campaign. As a sophomore, she earned All-MAC Honorable Mention accolades, before being named to the All-MAC First Team the last two seasons.
Brown has made quite an impact over her career with the Cardinals. She recently became the program's all-time leading rebounder at Northern Illinois(Feb. 24) and enters the 2021 MAC Tournament with 1,084 career rebounds. She hit the 1,000 rebound plateau at Miami (Feb. 13), making her only the second player in program history to reach 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Brown also enters the tournament ranked eighth on the Cardinals' all-time scoring list with 1,473 points, including 385 in the COVID-19 shortened 2020-21 campaign. She has tallied 48 double-doubles over her career which ranks third among all active NCAA Division I players, while her 1,084 rebounds are fourth and her 1,473 points are 40th.
This season, Brown collected a career-high 19 rebounds in an overtime win at Ohio (Jan. 13) and a personal best 33 points at home against Miami (Jan. 27).
Freeman earns All-MAC Honorable Mention honors after finishing the regular season ranked third in the league with 111 assists and a 4.8 assists-per-game average. She also ranked third on the team in scoring, averaging 12.5 point per game. Just the sixth player under Brady Sallee to receive All-Freshman Team honors in 2019-20, Freeman scored a career-high 28 points at Toledo (Feb. 27)which included knocking down six 3-pointers.
Ball State opens play in the 2021 MAC Tournament Wednesday as the No. 6 seed and will take on No. 3 Ohio in the day's fourth quarterfinal game at Rocket Mortgage Field House. Tipoff is set to begin 30 minutes following game three.
