Bree Salenbien's Career-High 32 Points Powers Ball State Past Bowling Green, 82-67
February 14, 2026 | Women's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. – Senior Bree Salenbien delivered a historic performance on Saturday, scoring a career-high 32 points to lead the Ball State women's basketball team to an 82-67 victory over Bowling Green at Worthen Arena. The win extends the Cardinals' current streak to six games.
The Cardinals pushed their season record to 21-5 and moved to 12-1 in league play with the victory, while the Falcons slipped to 13-12 overall and 5-8 in the conference.
For the game, Ball State continued their season-long dominance as the league's top-shooting team, the Cardinals connected on 32-of-60 shots (53%) in the win. It was the 10th time this year BSU has eclipsed the 50-percent mark from the field.
Despite a high-intensity Falcons defense that forced early turnovers and a 19-17 deficit in the opening 10 minutes, the Cardinals locked in during the second frame. Ball State stifled Bowling Green's rhythm, forcing contested shots while dominating the interior. Sparked by bench production and a Gracey Kingery triple, the Cardinals surged to a nine-point lead. A late bucket by Tessa Towers sent BSU into the locker room with a 36-28 advantage.
After outpacing the Falcons 19–9 in the second quarter, the Cardinals carried that momentum into the third as Bree Salenbien scored four quick points to extend the lead to 12. Although Bowling Green narrowed the gap to six on three separate occasions, Ball State remained resilient. Timely buckets from Alba Caballero, Karsyn Norman, Kingery and Salenbien quelled every Falcon run, giving the Cardinals a 56–47 cushion heading into the final period.
Bowling Green's valiant fourth-quarter efforts fell short, as they were unable to pull within more than six points. Ball State eventually pulled away, building a commanding 18-point advantage. The exclamation point came with 11 seconds remaining when Salenbien sank two free throws to cap off a career-high 32-point performance, sealing today's victory.
Salenbien's 32-point outburst etched her name in the Ball State women's basketball record books, moving her into a tie for the eighth-highest single-game scoring total in program history. Also supporting the offensive charge was Kingery and Norman as they both contributed 17 and 15 points, respectively. As always, Towers delivered a standout performance, posting 14 points and 10 rebounds to secure her eighth double-double of the season.
The Ball State women's basketball team will play at Buffalo on Wednesday for a 6 pm ET tipoff in Alumni Arena.
