Women’s Golf Looking to Build on Record Performance

The Ball State women's golf team didn't get to play the University Club at Arlington last year.
When the pandemic hit, Eastern Kentucky's annual Colonel Classic was the Cardinals' first event to be canceled.
Well, golf is back this spring, and Ball State is back in Richmond, Kentucky. The Cardinals tee it up with 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday.
The 14-team field this week includes Akron, Ball State, Belmont, Butler, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Tennessee Tech, Western Michigan and Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Ball State's lineup for the tournament features Hadley Moritz, Morgan Lewis, Kiah Parrot, Liz Kim and Tiegan Taylor.
The Cardinals are looking to build on a school-record performance from two weeks ago at the Spring Break Shootout where they set new school marks for both 18-hole (286) and 54-hole tournament (882) scores.
Ball State took sixth place in 2019, the last time the Colonel Classic was played, led by an 11th-place finish from then-sophomore Liz Kim. The Cardinals won the event in 2017 and three times have featured the tournament's individual medalist.
