Opening Tip:
• Wednesday's game against Ohio will mark the 66th time in program history the two schools have met with the Bobcats leading the all-time series record, 37-28. Ohio has won eight of the last nine meetings over the Cardinals. The most recent victory though went to Ball State in Athens on Jan. 13 where the Cardinals beat the Bobcats 89-84 in overtime. Prior to BSU's win, the Cardinals had not defeated Ohio since Jan. 18, 2014.
• From 1998-2006 the Cardinals had held a nine-game win streak over Ohio. The last time Ball State defeated Ohio in Worthen Arena was on Jan. 26, 2013 by a score of 77-46.
• The Cardinals are looking to get back on the winning track after losing back-to-back games in Worthen Arena on Feb. 6 in overtime to Akron (89-84) and then to Northern Illinois on Feb. 8 (74-78). Prior to those losses the Cardinals were on a five-game winning streak.Â
• Ohio enters Wednesday's contest looking to get back on the winning track as well after falling 69-53 to MAC favorite Bowling Green on Feb. 6.Â
• Senior forward Oshlynn Brown currently ranks fifth in the nation in rebounds (12.4) and 10th in defensive rebounds 8.6. She is 16th in double-doubles with nine this season.
1,000 Points, 1,000 Rebounds:
Senior Oshlynn Brown currently has 1,320 career points and 985Â rebounds. Brown needs 15 rebounds to hit 1,000. Brown will become only the second player in Ball State women's basketball history to reach 1,000 points and rebounds. Former Cardinal Emma Jones (1984-87) so far is the lone player in program history to get 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Rebound That Basketball:
Senior forward Oshlynn Brown is moving up the all-time rebounds list at Ball State she is currently tied for the third rebound spot which is held by former Cardinal Nathalie Fontaine (2012-16) with 985 rebounds. Brown needs 44 rebounds to become the BSU's all-time leader in that category which is currently owned by for Cardinal Emma Jones (1984-87) with 1,028 rebounds.Â
Scouting Ohio:
• The first-ever meeting between Ball State and Ohio was the 1975-76 season. The Cardinals won that meeting by a score of 72-59 on Jan. 31 in Muncie, Ind.Â
• Bob Bolden enters his eighth season at the helm of the Bobcats. Boldon is the winningest coach in program history at 159 victories at Ohio. Boldon broke the program record in 2018-19 in a win at Miami and reached the 100-win mark faster than any coach in Ohio history.Â
• Ohio returns a wealth of experience this season including the dynamic duo of Cierra (CeCe) Hooks who is averaging 25.7 points per contest while teammate Erica Johnson is scoring 19.5 points per game for the Bobcats. Hooks also ranks sixth in the nation in scoring. The Bobcats were picked to finish second in the preseason MAC polls and got three votes to win the MAC Tourney title.
