WBB Suffers Setback At Home Against Ohio In MAC Action

MUNCIE, Ind. - Playing four games in an eight-day span, a wearied Ball State women's basketball team fell, 88-66, to Ohio Wednesday night in Worthen Arena.
Sallee said after the game that his team looked sluggish and played like they had practiced and the only way to fix that is to keep wanting to get better.
He was somewhat empathetic though, acknowledging that his team had played a lot of games in a short amount of time. But Sallee also has never been an excuse guy either and the Cardinals are going to have to move on and get ready to play at Miami Saturday.
After the opening tip, both teams scored on their ensuing possessions to tie the game early, 2-2. But unfortunately, it didn't take long for the Bobcats to jump ahead to a quick 15-6 advantage over Ball State at the 4:52 mark.
The Cardinals then put together a 6-0 run which was capped off by a 3-pointer from junior forward Thelma Dis Agustsdottir to bring the Cardinals within three (15-12) with just a over two minutes left in the first frame.
But Ohio turned up the defense, holding BSU scoreless the remainder of the first period to take a 22-12 cushion over the Cardinals, as both teams headed into the second quarter of action.
The rest of the story is pretty much history. The Bobcats were just throwing up 3-pointers like it was nobody's business, so much so, that they finished the night with 17 from behind the arc.
Ball State did win the points in the paint category, 34-22, and its bench got to see some playing time totaling 26 points for BSU.
Junior guard Ella Skeens entered the contest in the third quarter, ending the night with a season best 13 points. She was also the Cardinals' top scorer.
BSU had three other players reach double digits, redshirt sophomore Anna Clephane finished the night with 12 points while teammates junior forward Oshlynn Brown and sophomore forward Annie Rauch each had 10 apiece.
Sallee's closing remarks were that his team needs to start playing a heck of a lot harder and to have a little bit more pride when we play than what we did tonight.
The Ball State women's basketball team will begin a two-game road swing on Saturday when it travels to Miami for a 1 p.m. ET tip-off in Millett Hall.
