Men’s Swimming & Diving Sweeps MAC Weekly Awards Again

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - For the second time this season, the Ball State men's swimming & diving program has swept the Mid-American Conference weekly honors, with sophomore Joey Garberick earning swimmer of the week and junior Wyatt Blake being named diver of the week.
A two-time MAC Men's Swimmer of the Week so far this season, and a three-time career honoree, Garberick turned in a pair of solid performances for the Cardinals last week. In last Thursday's home opener versus Miami (Oct. 28), Garberick won the 100 breaststroke (56.67) and placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:06.17). He followed by sweeping the breaststroke events in Friday's team win at Eastern Illinois (Oct. 29) with a time of 58.16 in the 100 and 2:13.51 in the 200.
Blake earned his first career MAC Diver of the Week honor this season after turning in an impressive 2021-22 home debut last Thursday versus Miami (Oct. 28). He won the 1M competition with an NCAA Zone Diving cut score of 320.10 and took second on the 3M board with a score of 301.05.
The Ball State men's swimming & diving team returns to action next Thursday on the opening day of the three-day IUPUI House of Champions meet at the IUPUI Natatorium.
