Field Hockey Welcomes Bellarmine For Senior Day
October 14, 2021 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. - It comes to no surprise that one of the youngest teams in the Mid-American Conference will be celebrating only two seniors on Friday, as the Ball State field hockey team hosts Bellarmine at the Briner Sports Complex. The games is slated to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
Prior to the contest, the Cardinals will pay tribute to their seniors Alex Conrad (Louisville, Ky./Ballard) and Callie Rumbaugh (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley).
This will not be the first meeting between the two clubs this year, however, as Ball State (4-9, 2-2 MAC) and Bellarmine (2-11, 1-4 MAC) faced one another at the start of the season with a non-conference showdown at Trager Stadium on Aug. 29 resulting in a 2-1 loss for the Cardinals.
Ball State and Bellarmine have met a total of five times with the Cardinals leading the all-time series 4-1. Four of the five meetings have been in Muncie — a 3-0 BSU victory on Oct. 10, 2012, a 7-1 Cardinals win on Oct. 11, 2015, a 2-1 OT triumph on April 2, 2021 and a 3-1 take down on April 3, 2021.
The Cardinals are coming off a 1-0 overtime victory over App State last Friday in league action while the Knights are still looking for their first conference victory of the season.
After this weekend, the Cardinals head to Longwood University for a Mid-American Conference road game on Oct. 22. Ball State will also play a non-conference game on Oct. 24 at Virginia Commonwealth. Both contests are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
