Kate Vinson Named MAC West Setter of the Week

CLEVELAND, OHIO - - For her part in helping guide the Ball State women's volleyball team to a pair of wins over Akron last weekend, freshman setter Kate Vinson has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Setter of the Week.

Vinson made her collegiate setting debut a memorable one, guiding the Cardinals offense to a .253 attack percentage in the two-match series versus the Zips. She started her career by dishing out 36 assists in Friday's sweep and followed with 38 in Saturday's four-set victory to average 10.57 assists per set for the week.

She helped five different Ball State attackers finish the week with at least a 2.00 kills-per-set average, while three averaged at least 3.00 kills per set.

In addition to her setting, Vinson scored 21 total digs over the two matches for a 3.00 digs-per-set average. Of the 21 digs, 14 came in Saturday's win, giving Vinson her first career double-double. She also tallied three kills in the series.

Vinson and the Ball State women's volleyball team return to action Thursday, when it opens a two-match series at Buffalo. First serve versus the Bulls is currently set for 6 p.m.
