June 11, 2020 | Baseball
Chase Sebby has earned another accolade in his decorated Ball State baseball career, earning first team CoSIDA Academic All-American honors. He's the 6th Ball State baseball player to earn this honor.
"Chase represents the best of collegiate athletics. He is a leader, an excellent player and an outstanding student," head coach Rich Maloney said. "Being recognized as an Academic All-American is a tremendous accomplishment only a select few achieve."
Sebby, from Huntington Beach, Calif., was the 2019 MAC Defensive Player of the Year and a second team all-conference pick that year as Ball State went 38-19 and 20-5 in conference play. He's an Academic All-MAC honoree and a two-time Academic All-District player, and has also won several team awards at BSU.Â
For his career, Sebby is a .271 hitter with 36 extra-base hits, 68 RBIs and a .401 on-base percentage. He's also one of the active leaders with 26Â sacrifices.
Sebby graduated with a degree in actuarial science from Ball State in 2019 and earned a certificate in statistical modeling in 2020.
