Ackley Leads the Way as BSU Concludes MAC Championships

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Senior captain Logan Ackley broke his own school record in the 200 Back two times Saturday as the Ball State swimming and diving team concluded the Mid-American Conference Championships.
As a team, Ball State finished fourth in the team standings with 420 points. Missouri State won the championships with 892 points. Full team standings are below.
1. Missouri State- 892
2. Miami- 812
3. Southern Illinois- 622
4. Ball State- 420
5. Evansville- 346
The Cardinals also took home some individual honors as seniors Ben Andrew and Ackley as well as freshman Jared Holder were named Second Team All-MAC.
After breaking his own school record in the prelims, Ackley clocked in at 1:48.22 in the 200 Back Finals to finish third overall in the event. Freshman Holder joined him in the finals and completed an eighth-place finish.
Sophomore Hunter Ongay competed in the 3-Meter finals and finished sixth place overall. Ongay stored a 261.00 in the championship round.
BSU completed the day with the 400 Free Relay in which the Cardinals placed fifth. Their time of 3:01.65 was good for the third best in school history. Jack Wolfred, Andrew, Aiden Maurer and Duncan McLarty made up the relay team.
The championships mark the end of Ball State's season though some Cardinals will compete at the National Invitational Championships March 12-14 at Cleveland State University.
