
Cardinals Compete in Four Championship Finals on Day Two

CARBONDALE, Ill. – It was an exciting day for the Ball State swimming and diving team as four Cardinals earned the right to compete in championship finals Thursday night at the Mid-American Conference Championships.
 
First up was Logan Ackley who finished seventh in the 200 IM prelims to earn a finals swim. Ackley went on to finish eighth overall with a time of 1:52:34. The other swimmer to make a finals appearance was Jack Wolfred after taking fifth in the prelims of the 50 Free. Wolfred claimed sixth in the finals with a lifetime best of 20.75.
 
Ball State's other finals appearances occurred on the diving boards with both Hunter Ongay and Wyatt Blake qualifying in the 1-Meter. Ongay finished sixth in the prelims and Blake eighth. The duo went on to finish seventh and eighth, respectively, with Ongay scoring a 230.35 and Blake a 227.05.
 
The day closed with a huge performance in the 200 Free Relay from the quartet of Wolfred, Ben Andrew, Duncan McLarty and Owen Chaye. The team clocked in at 1:21:37 to take third place.
 
Several other swimmers competed in B Finals for the Cardinals including Ryan Short, Aiden Maurer and Davis Meyn in the 500 Free and Jared Holder, McLarty, Andrew and Owen Chaye in the 50 Free.
 
Ball State moved into sole possession of fourth place in the team standings with 174 team points. Missouri State moved into first place with 322. Full team standings are below.
