
Three Field Hockey Players Earn 2019 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA DI Scholars of Distinction Award

GILBERT, Ariz. - Three Ball State field hockey players earned the 2019 Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Scholars of Distinction honor, as announced today by the NFHCA office. Freshman Caitlyn Grodzicki (Lititz, Pa./Warwick), junior Jenna McKune (Louisville, Ky./Assumption) and senior Arantxa Rosainz Caloca (Guadalajara, Mexico/Jalisco State) were the three recipients for the Cardinals.
The Division I Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year.
Both Grodzicki and Rosainz Caloca own perfect 4.0 GPAs while majoring in pre-nursing and advertising, respectively. McKune, a pre-med major, Â holds a 3.9 GPA. Both McKune and Rosainz Caloca were tabbed to the 2019 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team at the end of the season, while all three Cardinals also earned NFHCA National Academic individual honors on March 10. This is the third time in McKune's career she has received the Scholars of Distinction award.Â
The Ball State field hockey team earned a 2019 NFHCA National Academic Team Award along with placing 16 Cardinals on the NFHCA National Academic individual honors list. The Cardinals also placed nine on the 2019 Academic All-MAC Team.Â
Ball State posted a team fall GPA of 3.52. Grodzicki and Rosainz Caloca led the Cardinals by wrapping up their fall classes with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Grace Chavez, Haley Jolly, Libby Kraus, McKune, Angel Nkosi and Michelle Shampton all finished the semester above a 3.8 GPA. The Cardinals had 13 players achieve above a 3.6 GPA and 23 players attained a 3.0 GPA or higher.
