
Men’s Volleyball Opens MIVA Play Against McKendree, No. 6 Lewis

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's volleyball team will take its four-match winning streak into conference play when it opens MIVA competition against McKendree Thursday and No. 6 Lewis Saturday.

ABOUT MCKENDREE (7-4, 1-0 MIVA)
The Bearcats enter Thursday's contest having already played their first MIVA match. McKendree defeated Lewis in five sets to start the conference portion of its schedule. Zach Schnittker leads McKendree with 98 kills for the year and is closely followed by Patrick Ross' 93.
SERIES HISTORY
Ball State holds a 9-5 advantage in the all-time series with the Bearcats. The two school met three times last season an McKendree won the most important matchup in five sets at the MIVA Tournament.

The nationally ranked Flyers will square off against Ohio State Thursday before traveling to Muncie Saturday. Lewis owns a win against No. 8 UC Irvine and losses against Top-15 teams BYU, Hawaii and Penn State. Ryan Coenen paces Lewis and has tallied 136 kills so far this season.

The Cardinals hold a slight 32-30 advantage in the series with the Flyers. The most recent meeting featured BSU defeating Lewis in five sets at Worthen Arena.
