MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State women's basketball team picked up its 11th straight victory over Miami (Ohio) inside of Worthen Arena Saturday afternoon. Thelma Dis Agustsdottir led four Cardinals in double figures as Ball State cruised to an 80-63 win.
Ball State (13-6, 5-2 MAC) has excelled on its home court throughout this season. The Cardinals are now 7-1 overall at home and 4-0 against league opponents. Ball State is averaging 73.5 points per game in Worthen Arena and reached 80 points on three occasions including today's victory.
"On the offensive end, the way we took care of the ball and the way we shared the ball, maybe as good as we've had all year," Ball State head coach Brady Sallee said. "It was a good win. We needed one where we got [the lead] to eight or nine, and then we put our foot on the gas and finished it early."
Agustsdottir finished two points shy of her season high with 19 points on 75 percent shooting (8-of-12) from the floor. Jasmin Samz broke out of a small scoring slump with 13 points while Annie Rauch added 10 first half points. Meanwhile, Oshlynn Brown tallied her ninth double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Cardinals used a 15-5 run at the end of the first half to take a 32-24 lead into intermission. Miami (8-11, 1-6) got as close as four points midway through the third quarter, 39-35, only to see back-to-back buckets from Agustsdottir and a Brown layup stretched the lead to 10 points, 45-35.
