
Men’s Tennis Splits A Pair of Matches In East Lansing

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Ball State men's tennis team split a pair of matches today on the campus of Michigan State University. The Cardinals opened competition against Big Ten foe Michigan State at 10 a.m. and then closed out play in their matinee match versus Niagara University. Ball State fell to Michigan State 4-2 and then earned a 5-0 victory over Niagara.
Against the Spartans, Ball State took the early 1-0 lead over Michigan State after taking the doubles point. Eli Herran alongside doubles partner Bryce Bonin were the first duo off the court for BSU at the No. 3 position. Chris Adams and Vince Orlando then clinched the doubles win after beating MSU's top duo of John Carlin and Anthony Pero, 6-1. The Cardinals also registered the doubles point against Niagara University winning on courts one and three.
Orlando was the lone Cardinal to win his singles match against the Spartans today. He took down Jarreau Campbell in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 4 slot. Ball State swept its singles competition against the Purple Eagles. Parrish Simmons put the Cardinals up 2-0 after his 6-4, 6-4 win over Josh Wilson at position three. On court five, Bonin registered a 6-0, 6-3 victory over William Gothlin to increase the Cardinals' lead to 3-0 and then Orlando would clinch match point at the No. 2 singles with his 6-0, 7-5 defeat over Jorge Sedeno.
The Ball State men's tennis team will open its home portion of the 2020 spring season on Saturday, Feb. 1 against Wright State at 1 p.m. at the Muncie Northwest YMCA.
