Tahjai Teague Earns Third MAC West Weekly Award of Season

Senior averaged a double-double for the Cardinals last week
MUNCIE, Ind. -- For the third time this season, Ball State fifth-year senior Tahjai Teague has been recognized with MAC West Division Player of the Week honors.

The Indianapolis native, who averaged 22.0 points and 10.5 rebounds over the Cardinals' two games last week, shared the award with Toledo's Marreon Jackson.

Teague scored a season-high 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds last Tuesday against Buffalo, connecting on 11-of-16 from the floor to lead the Cardinals to an 88-68 victory over the two-time defending league champion.Â

He then recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds Friday against early MAC co-leader Akron.Â

Teague shot 59.4 percent from the floor for the week while also adding 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game. He is averaging a career-high 14.1 points this season while ranking among the top 10 in the MAC in rebounds (8.1), blocks (1.4), steals (1.6) and field goal percentage (.522).

A preseason All-MAC selection, Teague also won the West Division's weekly award on Nov. 18 and Dec. 23. BSU's Kyle Mallers (Nov. 25) and Ishmael El-Amin (Dec. 30) have also won the award this season.

Ball State (9-7, 2-1 MAC) returns to action Tuesday with a 7 p.m. tipoff at Eastern Michigan on ESPN+. The Cardinals will be back in Worthen Arena to host Miami for a 1 p.m. tipoff Saturday.
