Bonzi’s Big3 Season Debut Coming This Weekend in Indy
June 20, 2019 | Men's Basketball
Ball State basketball legend and MAC all-time leading scorer Bonzi Wells is back for the third year of the Big3. His Tri State team begins the season Sunday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Wells has played with Tri State since the league began and will team once again with Jermaine O'Neal, Amar'e Stoudemire and Nate Robinson. Jason Richardson and Yakhouba Diawara are new to the squad this year. The team is coached by Julius "Dr. J" Erving.
Sunday's action begins at 1 p.m. and features Tri State versus the Stephen Jackson-led Killer 3s. The session at Bankers Life also includes games between the Ball Hogs and Ghost Ballers and two of the league's four new expansion teams, the Triplets and Aliens.

Among other notable players competing in Indy this weekend are Carlos Boozer and Mike Bibby (Ghost Ballers), Joe Johnson and Al Jefferson (Triplets), and Indianapolis products Greg Oden and Robert Vaden (Aliens).
The 3-on-3 season runs 11 weeks, including the playoffs, with games Saturdays and Sundays at sites across the country. CBS and CBS Sports Network will have coverage each weekend.
Wells starred for his hometown Ball State Cardinals from 1994-98 before being selected with the 11th pick in the 1998 NBA draft and playing 10 seasons in the league. His 2,485 collegiate points and 347 steals still stand as both Ball State and MAC records more than 20 years later.
Wells led the Big3 in steals and ranked fifth in rebounding during the league's inaugural season in 2017.
