Outdoor Track & Field Places 14 on Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - After a strong showing both in the classroom and on the field of competition, 14 members of the Ball State track & field program were named to the 2019 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team.

To qualify for Academic All-MAC honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for their particular sport. First year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residency are not eligible.
Four Cardinals pick up the award for the sixth time in their careers with seniors Regan Lewis and Peyton Stewart being six-time honorees in track & field, and juniors Peyton Kneadler and Maritza Rodriguez earning the honor four times in track & field and twice in cross country.

Juniors Megan Graves and Kelsey Walters are four-time honorees in the sport of track & field, while sophomore Emmalyne Tarsa is a three-time honoree with two in track & field and the other coming in cross country this past fall.

Being recognized for the second time in their collegiate careers are sophomores Ivy McKee and Hailley Peters, along with redshirt freshman Michelle Lehmann.

First-time honorees for the Cardinals in track & field are sophomores Abby Denham, Cayla Eckenroth and MaQuila Norman, as well as redshirt freshman Madison Kiser.Â

Out of the 168 student-athletes to earn Academic All-MAC honors, seven recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester with Ball State's Kiser being one of them.Â

A total of 11 of Ball State's 14 honorees are now eligible to be named a MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete which is voted on by the faculty athletic representatives from each MAC institution. The award is presented to student-athletes from the Academic All-MAC Team who have excelled in athletics and academics and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
