Road To The Regional
Six MAC teams remain for the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Baseball Championship. Ball State is the No. 2 seed in the weekend tournament after finishing 20-5 in MAC play, just 2 half-games behind No. 1 seed Central Michigan.
BSU, which won its last 6 games, will play Thursday evening against the second-lowest seed that wins on Wednesday.Â
Ball State has the league's pitcher of the year in Drey Jameson and first-team picks John Baker and Nick Floyd. Jameson and Baker are scheduled to start Thursday and Friday, giving the Cardinals a pair of ace starting pitchers as they work toward the championship round.Â
Ball State last won the MAC Tournament in 2006. Kent State, the No. 4 seed is the defending champion. No. 1 seed Central Michigan won the tournament in 1994-95. The tournament champion will advance to an NCAA regional, which will be announced Monday, May 27 on ESPNU.
