
Persons, MAC Squad Advance to Final Day of 3X3U National Championship

MAC team went 2-1 in pool play, tournament champion to be crowned Sunday
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Tayler Persons and the Mid-American Conference team are headed to the round of 16 at the 3X3U National Championship. It's now win or go home at the Mall of America.

The MAC squad went 2-1 in pool play with wins over the Big East and Sun Belt and a one-point loss to the MAAC. The MAC defeated the Sun Belt in its final pool play game to earn one of the two advancing spots out of Pool E. The MAAC was the other advancing team from the pool.

The MAC will square off with the Big Ten at 12:10 p.m. ET Sunday in the round of 16. The winner will meet either the MAAC or the Big Sky in the quarterfinals at 1:50 p.m. ET.

The tournament will be completed Sunday. One team will win four games to advance through the bracket and claim the $100,000 grand prize.Â

All 32 Division I conferences are represented at the second-annual event by teams of players who have exhausted their eligibility. Persons is playing alongside fellow MAC seniors Larry Austin Jr. (Central Michigan), Jaelan Sanford (Toledo) and Jaylin Walker (Kent State).

Sunday's round of 16 and quarterfinal games will be streamed live on Twitter via @3X3UHoops, while the semifinals (3:10 and 3:30 p.m. ET), consolation (4:05 p.m. ET) and championship (4:35 p.m. ET) will be televised on ESPN2.
