April 14, 2019 | Men's Tennis
VESTAL, N.Y. - The Ball State men's tennis team wrapped up Mid-American Conference regular season action Sunday afternoon with a 4-3 win at Binghamton. With the victory, the Cardinals improved to 11-13 on the season and 2-5 in league play while the Bearcats fall to 8-14 and 0-7 in the MAC.
The Cardinals opened the match by taking the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, senior twin brother duo Marko and Nemanja Guzina started things off by breezing past Kushaan Nath and Tiago Lourenco, 6-2. Ball State then clinched the all-important first point at the No. 3 spot, where sophomore Chris Adams and senior Conner Andersen paired up to take down Josh Druger and Inigo Saez, 6-4.
Andersen quickly gave Ball State the two-point advantage once singles play started, taking the first singles match with his straight set victory over Saez on court five. Binghamton made it a 2-1 competition after taking court two from the Cardinals.
After that, sophomore Thibault de Negri pushed Ball State to a 3-1 cushion with his 6-2, 7-6 defeat at the No. 3 slot over Tiago Lourenco. With three courts remaining, Marko Guzina rallied in a three set thriller over Ludovico Cestarollo, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, for match point.
