Six Gym Cards Earn Academic All-MAC Award

CLEVELAND – Six Ball State gymnasts were named Academic All-MAC by the league office. Rachel Benoit, Sydney Finke, Arden Hudson, Maddie MacDonald, Kaitlyn Menzione and Jordyn Penny each met the requirements to be selected academic all-conference.
A total of 55 student-athletes were honored with this award, which is for student-athletes who excel in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA, have at least one complete year at their current school and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
Five of the six Cardinals had a GPA of 3.5 or better. Penny achieved the academic honor for the very rare fourth time, as she competed as a fifth-year senior this year. Finke graduates as a 3-time academic All-MAC honoree, while MacDonald and Benoit have been on the list twice.
Ball State defeated 10 teams this season - the program's most since 2002 - and placed three at the NCAA Baton Rogue Regional. Fans can follow Ball State gymnastics on Facebook and on Twitter and Instagram at @BallStateGym.
